Hotel Deals
Before you book a resort ask questions and research to
alleviate disturbing surprises. Most hotels have websites and you can look at
interior and exterior pictures to get an idea of its environment. Some valuable
questions to ask before handing over your credit card number are:
How old is the hotel, and when did you last renovate?
Find out if renovations are taking place during the time you want to stay at the
resort. You won't want to listen to hammering or trip over paint cans during
your honeymoon.
What is included in the fee and what is extra?
Miscellaneous fees can add up fast, such as parking, "resort fees," sports
rentals.
If not listed on their website, be sure to ask what amenities are included.
You will want to know if they provide a mini-fridge, wine glasses, hair dryer,
alarm clock, iron, robes, etc.
If you are interested in their gym facilities, find out what they offer.
Some hotels offer beautiful fitness centers, and some only provide a small room
with an old treadmill and a few dumbbells to use.
What will my view look like?
This is an important question because "ocean view" may mean a small glimpse of
the ocean or a beautiful wide view.
Ask where your room will be located.
It's quieter away from noisy ice machines and away from a busy road. Corner
rooms offer various views, and are often larger.
What is located nearby?
If you are interested in walking around, you want to know about shopping,
restaurants, parks, and sights.
Do you offer any extras for honeymooners?
It doesn't hurt to ask - maybe you'll get free champagne and fruit, or even an
upgrade to a suite.
