French Bread Recipe

A traditional French Bread recipe from France.  This French bread recipe is crisp on the outside and soft inside.  We really enjoy this recipe.

French Bread Recipe

1 package of  Active dry yeast
1 tbsp Margarine or  Butter
1 1/2 cups  warm 110 F Water
5 cups Bread Flour
1 tbsp Sugar
1 1/3 tsp Salt

Add yeast to the warm water.  Add the rest of the ingredients.  Knead the dough.  Cover the dough with a cloth and allow to rise until twice the size.  Work the dough back down.  Break into two loaves.  Put in greased pan.  Slash the dough - 4 cuts.  Allow the dough to rise again till it doubles in size.  Bake for 25 minutes at 375 F.
