<p>Place raisins in small pan with a tight fitting lid and 2/3 cup water.  Bring to boil.  Cover an simmer for 5 minutes.  Mix soda, nutmeg and cinnamon iwth he sifted flour.  Cream sugar, butter and shortening together.  Beat eggs and add to creamed mixture.  Drain water from raisins and save the liquid.  Measure 5 tbsps and stir into egg mixture.  Mix in dry ingredients, about 1 cup at a time.  Stir in raisins.  Drop on ungreased baking sheet approximately 2 inches apart.  Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes.</p>
