Apple Pie

Description

Apple Pie:

1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup pecan halves
1/2 cup brown sugar
5 large tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced (6 cups)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Spread butter evenly on bottom and sides of 9 inch pie plate.  Press nuts, rounded side down, into butter on bottom of plate.  Put brown sugar evenly over nuts.  Roll out pastry for bottom curst and place in pie plate over sugar. 

Sprinkle apples with lemon juice.  combine flour, cinnamon , nutmeg, and dash salt and toss with the apples.  turn into pie plate and spread evenly to keep top level.  Roll out remaining pastry and adjust over the apples and seal.  Prick top of pie with fork.  Bake at 400 for 50 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes.  Place serving plate on top of pie and invert.  Carefully remove pie plate.  Server warm or cool.
