Chocolate Chip Cookies:

1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Blend together shortening, brown sugar and white sugar.  Add egg and vanilla and blend until creamy.  Add flour,salt, and baking soda and blend.  Add chocoalte chips and chopped nuts and drop by a teaspoon onto grease cookie sheet.  Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.  Should make about 3 dozen chocolate chip cookies.
