Description

Fruit Cake:

1 cup butter
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup molasses
2 tbsps buttermilk
1 cup of red cherries
1 cup green cherries
1 1/2 cups raisins
4 tbsps strawberry jam
1 tsp rum flavoring
1/2 cup of wine
6 eggs
1 cup of mixed peel
2 cups currants

Mix all the ingredients carefully together.  Let mixture stand for 10 minutes.  After mixtures sits add the following ingredients to the mixture bit by bit.

1 cup of white sugar
1/2 tsp cloves
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder

Stir until all is completely mixed.  Bake at 275 F for 2 1/2 hours.  While baking have a pan of water for steam underneath.  Cool overnight.
